Speciality Programs
Continuous education makes you proficient and safer.
After receiving your Open Water Diver Certification, you can continue to build experience and knowledge with Speciality Programs:
Diving Knowledge Specialties include just an online class but an instructor is always available to answer any question you may have.
Pool Specialities include an online class complemented by one or more pool sessions.
Dedicated Equipment Specialties introduce the use of new equipment and include an online class complemented with pool and/or open water dives.
Open Water Specialities includes an online class, one or more pool sessions and one or more open water dives.
Some speciality dives can be combine together.

Open Water Specialities

Course Outline:
You will learn how to estimate distances, navigate precise search patterns, and read environmental clues to ensure you always find your way back to your exit point, maximizing your bottom time and safety. Includes digital learning, lands drills and 2 open water dives done in our local dive sites.
Pool Specialities
Introduction and Goals:
Underwater navigation is one of the most vital core skills a diver can master. The SSI Navigation Specialty program provides you with the skills, knowledge, and practical training necessary to safely and confidently navigate underwater using both digital/analog compasses and natural navigation techniques.
Introduction and Goals:
Ever dropped a flashlight, a camera, or an outboard motor off a dock? Master the art of the underwater search. The SSI Search and Recovery specialty equips you with the skills to plan complex search operations. Stop searching blindly and start recovering with precision.
Course Outline:
You’ll learn how to organize a search pattern so you don't miss a single square inch, and how to safely use lift bags to bring heavy objects up without hurting yourself or the reef. Includes digital learning, land workshop, 1 pool session and 2 open water dives done in our local dive sites.
Introduction and Goals:
Be prepared for the unexpected. The SSI Diver Stress and Rescue program gives you the tools to identify stress, prevent accidents, and act effectively as a rescuer if an emergency arises. Elevate your confidence, master lifesaving skills, and protect your dive community.
Course Outline:
You’ll learn how to recognize stress, assist conscious or unconscious diver, locate a missing or submerged buddy, bring a simulated unresponsive diver up and coordinate with emergency response. Includes digital learning, land workshop, 3 pool sessions and 3 open water dives done in our local dive sites.
Introduction and Goals:
Don't let the dark stop you from exploring. The SSI Night Diving and Limited Visibility specialty provides the skills and safety protocols needed to comfortably dive after sunset or in low-vis conditions. Night dive reveals incredible colors that are washed out during the day, plus all the nocturnal sea life that only come out after dark.
Course Outline:
This course teaches you how to handle lights, communicate in the dark with your buddy, and navigate safely to experience the underwater world in a whole new light. Includes digital learning and 2 open water dives done in our local dive sites.
Introduction and Goals:
At 60 feet, a tank of air lasts a while, and your dive computer gives you plenty of time. At 100 feet plus, everything accelerates. The SSI Deep Diving Specialty equips you with the skills, physics knowledge, and planning protocols required to comfortably dive between 60 to 130 feets (18 to 40 meters).
Course Outline:
This course teaches you how to calculate gas consumption, recognize narcosis, tracking no-decompression limits, mastering ascent rate and handling redundant air supplies. Includes digital learning and 3 open water dives done in our local dive sites.
Introduction and Goals:
Instead of shivering through a 7mm wetsuit compression matrix, a dry suit keeps you completely dry by sealing out the water with latex or neoprene wrist and neck seals. Extend your diving season indefinitely. with the SSI Dry Suit Diving specialty. Stay dry, stay warm, and explore destinations most divers never see.
Course Outline:
This course teaches you how to add just enough gas via your chest inflator valve to stay comfortable, and how to dump that air from your shoulder valve on ascent so you don't float away feet-first. Includes digital learning, 1 pool session and 3 open water dives done in our local dive sites.

Introduction and Goals:
The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox specialty is a popular specialty as it doesn't change how you dive; it changes how long you can stay down. By replacing some of the nitrogen in your scuba tank with oxygen, your body absorbs less nitrogen during the dive giving you more bottom time on deep walls, reefs, and wrecks.
Course Outline:
This course is about shedding excess lead, finding your true center of gravity, and learning how a single deep breath can lift you perfectly over a reef without moving a fin. Includes digital learning and 1 pool session.
Dedicated Equipment Specialties
Diving Knowledge Specialities

Introduction and Goals:
The SSI Perfect Buoyancy specialty is often considered the single best investment a diver can make. It is the secret sauce that transforms a heavy, air-guzzling beginner into a streamlined, relaxed diver who appears to be doing yoga underwater.
Course Outline:
This course is all about managing the trade-off: you get a massive boost in bottom time, but because you have more oxygen in your tank, you have to be mindful of your Maximum Operating Depth (MOD) to keep things completely safe. Digital learning only.
Introduction and Goals:
Dive computers have revolutionized the way we explore the underwater world, offering unparalleled safety and convenience. The SSI Computer Diving specialty is designed to help you thoroughly understand this essential piece of equipment.
Course Outline:

Introduction and Goals:
The SSI Science of Diving specialty is the ultimate deep dive into the "why" behind everything we do underwater. It forms the foundational theoretical backbone for all SSI professional ratings (Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and Open Water Instructor). If you want to deeply understand the physics, physiology, and mechanics of the underwater world, this is the course.
Course Outline:
This course is divided in 5 modules: Diving Physics, Diving Physiology, Decompression Theory, Total Diving Systems and The Aquatic Environment. Digital Learning only.
